Save the Date for The Starlight Ball

Press Release
Thursday, October 2, 2003

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might…take my date to the Starlight Ball tonight… Every Cinderella in town will want to be sure to mark their calendars for The Starlight Ball at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, set for Saturday, January 10, 2004, from 7 until 11 p.m.

The first major social event for the year 2004, The Starlight Ball is being sponsored by the Academy’s new ARTafterDARK committee, a focus group of young professionals and artists working together to create opportunities to enjoy the arts in a social setting. The evening will offer a glorious night of continuous music and dancing, a lavish array of delectable cuisine, martini and wine bars, and a silent auction with a bevy of fabulous items upon which to bid.

Starlight Ball tickets are $75 per person. A select number of premium tables are also available. Tickets are limited and early reservations are recommended. All proceeds from the event will benefit the many children’s art classes and programs held throughout the year at the Academy Art Center.

The featured exhibition at the Starlight Ball is In Celebration of Light: Photographs from the Collection of Cherye R. and James F. Pierce. The Pierce’s have the finest collection of photography in Hawaii. This exhibition presents over 100 works from their private collection featuring artists such as Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, Minor White, and W. Eugene Smith.
